Washi Tape love for spring

I’m a bit late on the washi tape train but hey I was to stingy with myself to buy “some tape” for about 3,50€ per role. Okay, okay I got it. It’s a great invention with multiple use on nearly every surface in every thinkable way. Fine.

So I got a good bunch of tape roles to test my creativity. I found mine on Tchibo for 12,95€ for 10 different colors. That’s a pretty good deal I think and of course it was sold out right away. 

Let me show you what I did with it. Washi tape is really easy to handle, you can tear of the piece you want ( no scissors needed!) and stick it to anything and remove it really easy if you don’t like it that way.

I started with the window in our living room. It’s quite big so I had a lot of space to decorate so I started to tape the word “Frühling” which means spring in German. I like to have a message to look at everyday. Keywords or little quotes can be uplifting and a little reminder for anything. This can be transitioned easily to other seasons or moods. Perfect for expressing yourself.

With my spring decorations I bought last weekend in Hannover I decorated some spring twigs.

Washi tape was part of it, too as I made little flags with just wrapping a piece around some twigs to spice everything up a bit. I haven’t made a photo of the flower vase in which I decorated with simple “x” with different styles of washi tape. Makes a plain and boring vase look more pretty immediately.

As I was doing my washi spree not even the candles where spared. The yellow one got a wrapper and the tea lights got their bottoms taped. The aluminium cups look much more friendly now.

So that’s for now, but I’m sure there are millions of other ways to use this tape. I’m sure that I’m going to figure out many more ways to show you how I used it.

Spring shopping and a cosy blogger meet up in Hannover

Saturday we packed our bags and headed out for a day of fun in Hannover. As I love to shop at smaller independent shops we choose to go to Hannover-List and strolled around the pedestrian area.

Let me show you my little haul. It was a very grey and rainy day so it looks like I was in spring mood already to wipe away the bad weather. At least that’s what the colors show.

We had a yummy dinner at Gustimo. It’s a lovely pasta bar with beautiful ambiance. You can choose you style of pasta ( we choose whole wheat pasta!) and your sauce and different ingredients! So good, there is something for every pasta lover! Have a look at my Arugula Pesto Pasta on my Instagram account…or on the right side bar!

 

After shopping and our delish dinner the hubs delivered me at the meeting point for our blogger meet up at Atrium Restaurant. I was a bit late and the girls were already in action introducing themselves but it was a whole lot of fun meeting everyone. A creative atmosphere and great personalities and blogs to get to know. We agreed on meeting again at the end of summer and I’m already looking forward to it.

Oh, how Pinteresting Wednesday!

I love the stripes and the sunny feeling with the bright yellow. Stripes on the bathroom walls are great, perhaps we will do it with a more neutral colour.

This bathroom is quite neutral, a bit too much for my opinion but the rug in front of the bathtub is nice and it's again a seperatly standing one in a great shape.

Shades of Grey Crafternoon Project II

As mentioned earlier this week here is my second project.
It’s more about redecorating an old lamp I took with me from my parents house last year. The lamp shade was really ugly and had a stain on it, so I put it directly in the bin. Finding the right replacement shade was really difficult, too small, too big, too narrow, too whatever. You know the game.
So on my trip to IKEA a few weeks ago where I bought the plain coasters I turned into this beauties, I found a beautiful lamp shade that fitted my imagination and idea for the make over in it’s best way.
So have a look at that ugly bottom…this marble style was even out of style when my parents got it. But as I saw real potential when switching the color, I took it with me. Back then I had some bold bright color like turquoise in mind to make it pop. Anyway my current style now is more neutral and I’m about to switch our home to this style as well.
As preparation I cleaned the bottom with some cleaning solvent to make sure it’s clean and the paint will stick to it.
I’m so pleased with the result. It has such a modern and chick charm and I don’t want to trade it for anything else. The bottom now looks like solid stone or cement or whatever you might call it. The hubs suggested to switch the cable and the switch as well as the color doesn’t fit. For now I’m hiding the cable really well. Perhaps some future place might ask for this adjustment.
Another beautiful piece for our home and the best about it is that I created - okay changed - some part of it with my hands and that feels so good and special.
The third project I was approaching during this crafternoon did not turn out well. I think there are some adjustments I need to make and only God knows when I find some time during holiday preparations and busy work days. But as you can seen it’s trial and error with the projects here. Anyway I hope to come up with this soon.

Cosy Textures: Part Three {Felt}

Hey everyone, great that you stopped by for Part three of my texture feature. 
Felt is such a great material, soft to the touch but still kind of strong in texture so you can make nearly everything out of felt. Connected wool fibers integrate and build this natural fabric. Amazing!

Oh, how Pinteresting Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday to all of you. This week hasn’t gone so well by now as it was really stressful and I was always short in time.
I stop by to show you some lively pins. The theme for this week is nightstands and I found some really lovely ones.
I find it really difficult to keep my nightstand clear of clutter and things that don’t belong on a nightstand. Basically it’s a night light and an alarm clock to get up on time in the morning. Most other things aren’t necessary and distract you from a deep and undisturbed sleep. Some fresh flowers however will help clean the air in your bedroom and make the setting more beautiful.

Cosy Textures: Part Two {Knitted}

 

Hi lovely, great that you popped in to have a look at part two of my texture feature. This week is about knitted materials.

Back in school I learned how to knit (no fancy patterns but hey I managed) and enjoyed it. After years of being unproductive when it comes to fibre crafting I’m out of practice and can’t probably caste on or knit and purl.

In the depth of my storage boxes there is a book about knitting with which I taught myself how to do it. Perhaps I can find it somewhere to do some meditative knitting any time soon this fall/winter.

While this search hasn’t happened yet, I have collected some nice knitted styles for my home to keep everyone and everything warm. Hope you enjoy.

Oh, how Pinteresting Wednesday!

 

It’s time again. Wednesday is here and it’s Happy Pinning Day! Actually I’m a bit late, but it’s still Wednesday.

As done in past weeks I picked another fun home interior topic. Today's theme is about coffeetables. This has been a difficult piece of furniture ever since for me and there are so many factors that you have to consider to get a lovely setting. I actually have to admit that I was never contend with the different coffeetables we owned in our apartments. They were either too big, too small, too high, too low, the ones with a glass surface got too dirty quickly…you get the picture. It’s a disaster!

As a second component you have to take the style, size and layout of your sofa into account to have a harmonic setting. Whether it’s a L-shape or a straight one and how the table fits into the picture.

Anyway there are some combinations of coffeetables and sofas that really rock and which are decorated absolutely cute and individual. Here’s what I found.

Cosy Textures: Part One {Fake Fur}

 

To improve my cosiness indoors especially when it gets stormy and rainy outside I thought about my most wanted textures and fabrics used for my home. This post will be the first in a row about it and I plan on some more on the following Tuesdays.

Fake Fur is such a incredible material. You can snuggle up and it holds you really really warm. It’s so soft and sometimes it tickles your skin and you feel so well wrapped up. I would never wear real fur when it comes to clothing, especially fur coats are so horrible not naming the use of endangered animals for this stupid things!

Anyhow real sheep fur for instance is a thing I’m fine with and can handle (can’t tell you why, don’t blame me, feels more natural as we use the wool as well) but that’s all.

I have gathered a collection of different fake fur style decorations for you to have a closer look at the texture und use for being cosy.

Cocooning

A huge trend that I recognized the last years turning up and getting bigger and bigger especially during fall and winter season is the cocooning.

And what is it you’re asking? Well imagine you’re a little caterpillar snuggling up in soft and cosy materials having a great time and hanging out just like pupated . You’re waiting to turn into a beautiful butterfly after retreating from the busy world outside recharging your batteries.

Now and then I need this little time out for myself. Don’t get me wrong I loved to got out, meeting friends and party but honestly as much as often as I enjoy being social I like to stay at home with my husband having a cuddly evening, treating us with delicious food, lighting candles, sipping some wine or tea and read something or watch a good movie.

When I’m on my own I really like to do some beauty rituals, taking long a bubble baths, manicure, pedicure, facial masks…the whole program. It’s just a girl thing. Do you agree?
