New Blog Header

You never know when enthusiasm and creativity flashes and you’ll be more productive during one evening than in many weeks ago all together. As making the button was kind of easy I kept going and here it is, my new blog header.

It’s the first one using pretty pictures and not just text. I think it turned out very well and reminds me of our relaxing days at the Baltic Sea in fall. I remember that those days there were nearly the last golden days in fall so the memory is precious to me during the cold and dark season.

What do you think, do you want to move into my Cosy White Cottage?

Button Alert!

I always thought that creating a button for my blog is way to difficult to handle and that I don’t have the patience to do it. Oh, I was so wrong at least for my abilities. I found a great tutorial over at Projects around the House that worked so well.

The picture of the little white house was taken at the Baltic Sea in a little village called Dahme. I loved the little cottage right from the start with it’s thatched roof and it is right next to the beach.

Don’t you fell in love with it, too?

Oh, how Pinteresting Wednesday!

It’s been a while since I took part in the weekly link up over at The Vintage Apple but I think it’s time now to choose another topic for the New Year to continue my collection of great interiors gathered focused on different home design topics.
As I enjoyed a lazy day yesterday and did lots of girly beauty things it came to my mind to set my eye on the lovely bathrooms you can find on Pinterest.

This rounded bathtub is really elegant and beautiful. I would love to have on that isn't biuld in but stands kind of freely in the room.

In this pin the floor pattern caught my eye. It’s a heavy contrast but gives something special to the room. And honestly, who has some swans as a tap?

A sparkly and girly bathroom. Those mosaic tiling behing the sink is gorgeous and looks like mother of pearl.

I love the stripes and the sunny feeling with the bright yellow. Stripes on the bathroom walls are great, perhaps we will do it with a more neutral colour.

This bathroom is quite neutral, a bit too much for my opinion but the rug in front of the bathtub is nice and it's again a seperatly standing one in a great shape.

What a rustic looking bathroom, it caught my eye immediately and has such a special charm with the rough surfaces. Feels like a spa in something like a cave to me.

If you have enough room in your bathroom this shabby chic storage rack is a great eye catcher with a french touch to it.

Those bathtub feet are so stylish and a great view when looking out of the window, urban feeling! (But what prevents the others from seeing my naked but?)

A great bright colour that gives a really fresh touch to the bathroom. Might be that you get up better in the mornings.

Are you curious what the New Year inspired the other pinners over at Michelle`s Blog? Hurry and take a look!

Have a great Wednesday!

2013 what I want to do and Happy NEW YEAR!

A new year, new goals!
Resolutions are the kind of things you have forgotten about until halfway trough January. Honestly, no matter how we name it, there is a bit more pressure to it, when I tell you about my personal goals.
Hope it works for me, I keep you updated. :)
  • finding our family home…FINALLY. Hope this will happen soon in 2013!
  • getting fit in 2013 and establishing a workout routine for two evenings a week
  • do more ‘real’ dates with my hubs, having more special time together as it is so precious
  • learn new things like how to photoshop
  • meet my lovely friends more often, to spend some quality time with them
  • try to look more polished and put together in my everyday life getting further with finding my personal style
  • be more crafty as it is something I really enjoy but don’t have the proper space in our current apartment
  • do more experiments with new recipes in the kitchen, my goal is to try a new cakes or sweets firstly limited for January weekends
  • be more organized in everything I do and have something like a schedule
  • invest more time in decorating our current place to make us feel more home

So as the year is over in a few hours and we’re running now to attend a cosy New Years Eve party at a friends house. Everything left to say is that I wish a healthy, happy and lucky 2013 for all of you!
I feel great to know you around, even if I’m not all the time, but I try my best to improve in 2013! Without you it would just me doing some journaling ( which would be okay, but having you around is way more fun!!).
So cheers to 2013!!

I’m back again…

… after the Holidays hoping you spend great quality time with your family and friends. We spend x-mas at my in laws in Dresden. Internet access was very rare due to no WLAN so I couldn’t send my warm Christmas wishes earlier.

We spend lots of time strolling trough Dresden and it’s lovely Christmas Market “The Striezelmarkt” and the lovely little huts around the famous “Frauenkirche”. If you follow me on Instagram (I’m @Minny777) you have already seen those impression but I like to share them with you here, too. I also included a little Instagram live gallery on the right.

Under this Christmas Pyramid you got the BEST mulled wine in so many different flavours you could ever imagine. It’s located next to the Frauenkirche facing the Münzgasse for those who might try it next year! My recommendation is Blueberry Mulled wine and Feuerzangenbowle (served aflame, really exciting!)

Got some really delicious hot cocoa at Dulce in Dresden Altstadt. Those Pralines looked all so tasty that I couldn’t decide which ones to take.

The beautiful sparkly decoration at the building housing L´Occitane. So many great things over there. I love their hand cream, soft skin, great smell!Luxurious decorations at Altmarkt Galerie Dresden ( biggest shopping mall in town)

Dresden Centrumsgalerie (small shopping mall)

Delicious Petit Four on Christmas Eve before breakfast while shopping for some rolls and minced meat. Yum!! Couldn’t resist. Was the first one I ever tried and I will defiantly do it again!

Finally, our tree. It was a bit crooked and the needles were really itchy…ouch! If I wouldn’t have been the one decorating it, I wouldn’t have bothered but…ouch ouch!! Once I was done, it looked really great. Apparently my skills with my mobile´s camera aren’t pretty good, but I think you will forgive me!

So we’re heading straight ahead New Year right in focus. Holiday Season is nearly over, it’s just New Years Eve for celebrating left, so for sure that’s what we’ll do! Wishing a healthy and successful 2013 to all of you!

Treat yourself!

This is the season to buy gifts, celebrate and make your loved ones smile. It’s crowded in the shops in town as people run to find the perfect gifts and you’re attending different Christmas parties with workmates and friends. Lots of duties on your schedule during the season you should be calm and thankful for every pleasure you have. _MG_0102bearbeitet color
To make you feel more comfortable you should pamper yourself with really good stuff and use your free minutes to drink a good quality tea, treat your hands with an ultra rich hand cream, celebrate your morning showers with heavenly smelling shower gel and body cream and infuse your home with great scents.
To make this moments more worthy I have to recommend a brand named Rituals Home & Body Treatments. I love the smell of their whole product range and that is a thing that never happened to me as I’m usually really picky and just tend to like one or two smells. But these ones are all amazing!
Anyhow I picked most products in Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk. The candle is Fresh Fig & Copaiba and the anti-perspiant is White Lotus scented.
Rituals uses natural, renewable and organic ingredients for their products and isn’t tested on animals.

Let me show you what I bought for myself. _MG_0098bearbeitet_MG_0104bearbeitet A lovely duo with hand wash and hand lotion to position next to your sink. Great idea. They also provided cute little trays to arrange the bottles on but my space next to the sink is limited so I haven’t bought one.   _MG_0103bearbeitet To get to know the different products I picked some travel sized(actually not that small, a fair size I think) bottles to figure out what I like.
The Magic Touch cream is so easy to love. My hands feel so soft and I want to touch my hands all the time, can’t stop!
I will try the other products as soon as I can but I’m very sure I will love them, too.

So far until now, have a great Sunday tomorrow with your loved ones and enjoy your time!

P.S.: I registered for their newsletter and recieved a confirmation mail offering 10% off my next purchase within a month. What a great surprise!

My Christmas Decorations

Oh dear, have you seen our friend December? It’s halfway gone, just 10 days until Christmas and nearly 15 until New Year.

I had so much plans and to do’s I wanted to achieve to celebrate Christmas time this year. There are a lot of things on my list and I hope to achieve at least some of them.

Kick start with my Xmas decorations was at the end of November. So far I was really proud that I was on time for First Advent but taking pictures were a tough one as it was so dark outside already when I came home. It was impossible to take good photos and flash is absolutely horrible!Winter window

This year I made lots of arrangements for our living room with candles and some fir. It was great fun to put everything together and it was quick and easy. As my mom was the expert with Christmas decoration and amazingly talented to gather everything I hadn’t put up anything last year. Anyhow, this Christmas I gave my abilities a try and think it turned out really cute.

My inspiration came form a Christmas fair where they had Advent wreaths arranged in something like apple crates. What really caught my eye was that everything looked like it happened by accident and just casually put together.

White Candels

By the way, can you crochet? I have to admit I bought those snow flakes but activating my skills with needle work seems a good idea.Candels grey

How far along are you with you Christmas to do list? On schedule or way behind…kind of like me.

Cosy Textures: Part Three {Felt}

Hey everyone, great that you stopped by for Part three of my texture feature.
Felt is such a great material, soft to the touch but still kind of strong in texture so you can make nearly everything out of felt. Connected wool fibers integrate and build this natural fabric. Amazing!

I love having felt around in decoration, home textiles or even on some kind of clothing . I gathered a few things made of felt to show you the various use of it.

Cosy Textures: Part Two {Knitted}

Hi lovely, great that you popped in to have a look at part two of my texture feature. This week is about knitted materials.

Back in school I learned how to knit (no fancy patterns but hey I managed) and enjoyed it. After years of being unproductive when it comes to fibre crafting I’m out of practice and can’t probably caste on or knit and purl.

In the depth of my storage boxes there is a book about knitting with which I taught myself how to do it. Perhaps I can find it somewhere to do some meditative knitting any time soon this fall/winter.

While this search hasn’t happened yet, I have collected some nice knitted styles for my home to keep everyone and everything warm. Hope you enjoy.

Next Saturday’s texture post will be about felt. Stay tuned for this versatile material.

Cosy Textures: Part One {Fake Fur}

To improve my cosiness indoors especially when it gets stormy and rainy outside I thought about my most wanted textures and fabrics used for my home. This post will be the first in a row about it and I plan on some more on the following Tuesdays.

Fake Fur is such a incredible material. You can snuggle up and it holds you really really warm. It’s so soft and sometimes it tickles your skin and you feel so well wrapped up. I would never wear real fur when it comes to clothing, especially fur coats are so horrible not naming the use of endangered animals for this stupid things!

Anyhow real sheep fur for instance is a thing I’m fine with and can handle (can’t tell you why, don’t blame me, feels more natural as we use the wool as well) but that’s all.

I have gathered a collection of different fake fur style decorations for you to have a closer look at the texture und use for being cosy.

Next Saturday there will be another texture post about the fun texture of knitted materials. Stay tuned and have a cosy weekend!

Cocooning

A huge trend that I recognized the last years turning up and getting bigger and bigger especially during fall and winter season is the cocooning.

And what is it you’re asking? Well imagine you’re a little caterpillar snuggling up in soft and cosy materials having a great time and hanging out just like pupated . You’re waiting to turn into a beautiful butterfly after retreating from the busy world outside recharging your batteries.

Now and then I need this little time out for myself. Don’t get me wrong I loved to got out, meeting friends and party but honestly as much as often as I enjoy being social I like to stay at home with my husband having a cuddly evening, treating us with delicious food, lighting candles, sipping some wine or tea and read something or watch a good movie.

When I’m on my own I really like to do some beauty rituals, taking long a bubble baths, manicure, pedicure, facial masks…the whole program. It’s just a girl thing. Do you agree?

Have a cosy weekend and do some cocooning to recharge for next week.

Everything Etsy

I have to admit something! I fell in love with Etsy this weekend.

I have never considered it as an online-shop I might like to shop at as I thought crafters were just from the U.S. and shipping would cost a fortune…it appears it doesn’t. So here I went browsing the Etsy network and picked some of my favorites for a cosy home to share with you.

You don’t know Etsy? Well, it’s an online market place for handcrafted and vintage treasures from sellers all over the world. You can find art, clothing, jewelry, beautiful things for your home and a ton of knick-knack and get lost while exploring.

I picked a few of my lovely finds and put them together in a collage to show you what you can find on Etsy.PicMonkey Collage3 Pillows / Diamond / Legwarmer / Scarf / Fridge / Board

Have you found anything gorgeous over at Etsy recently? What is your experience? I’d love to hear about that.

Tea potting passion

Hands up everybody, who likes a comforting cup of tea now and then!!? I have been a tea girl since early childhood days and have never stopped.
About ten years ago there there was a second love infusing in out relationship…the coffee fellow. There were though times for my tea passion when Latte Macchiato, Cafe au Lait, Cappuccino and the whole gang got really trendy and of course I didn’t want to miss them.
Anyway, now I’ve gained a steady plan when it comes to hot beverages. I get one coffee in the morning pretending to get awake more quickly and then I stick to tea as I honestly don’t want to drink my calories and Latte Macchiato is a real calorie bomb.
To serve me all day without additional work to do, I like to have a thermos jug on my desk with just hot water so I can decide which tea flavor I like next in my cup. Clever, huh? Let me show you my favorite thermos flask so far that is on top of my personal wish list!! Sadly it’s a bit expensive considering it’s a tea pot.

What do you prefer, tea or coffee? Which reasons do you have, just taste?
Have a lovely afternoon with a healthy, heartwarming cup of tea.

Cheers,
